Suffolk Sport relaunches today with the new name Active Suffolk.
A new brand identity has been established in order to support the organisation's vision of improved health and wellbeing across Suffolk by inspiring everyone to be more active.
The change follows the rebrand of the County Sports Partnership Network to Active Partnerships at its recent leadership convention on the 11th March 2019.
Commenting on the new name, John Clough, Director of Active Suffolk, said "Our decision to adopt a new name reflects a number of recent changes to the sport and physical activity sector as a whole, changes to the needs of our partners and our communities and consequently, changes to the role that we play as an organisation.
It also reflects the redefined purpose of Active Partnerships nationwide, as outlined by Sport England, and our stronger focus on inactive and under-represented groups. We believe that the term 'Active' will resonate with the extensive range of sectors, activities, partners, communities and individuals that we engage with and will encourage currently inactive audiences to lead healthier, active lives.
We look forward to continuing to develop our role and reputation as a key player in shaping the current and future provision of sport and physical activity in Suffolk under this exciting new identity".
Tracey Loynds, Chair of the Active Suffolk Board said: "The Board is very excited about Active Suffolk's new name and image. It demonstrates our commitment to embrace change and adapt in order to meet the needs of our partners and communities. I have no doubt that the new name will help us to engage with new audiences and will support our collective ambition to make Suffolk England's Most Active County."
Active Suffolk is the Active Partnership for Suffolk: one of 43 Active Partnerships across England strategically placed to address the worrying levels of inactivity in society and increase the number of people taking part in regular sport and physical activity. Active Suffolk works with a wide range of partners including local authorities, national governing bodies (NGB's), the education sector, the health sector, charitable/voluntary organisations and third sector organisations to achieve this goal.
