Jeffrey Hoey
Jeffrey Hoey is the School Games Organiser for North Suffolk. Each year the School Games Organisers across the county work hard to coordinate and support the Suffolk School Games events and festivals, which invite school children from across the county participate in school sports competitions.
Due to the pandemic and school closures, the usual school games events were unable to take place, however Jeffrey adapted to the situation and set up an outstanding virtual school games event which involved 23 schools in the North of Suffolk.
"The work of Jeffrey meant that my school had an opportunity to take part in an array of activities such as football, tennis, rounders, cricket, dance, gymnastics, netball and more. Our school alone had 550 entries for his events"
As part of the online offer, Jeffrey created 10 virtual competitions and his work to promote this through his school contacts and on social media saw a remarkable 4,779 entries being submitted!!
"It has engaged so many children within the area to be active and have the sense of achievement competing against other schools."
In addition to the support Jeffrey offered to pupils and schools in the North of Suffolk, he also committed to organising a virtual Race for Life event which inspired others to be active and raised hundreds of pounds for Cancer Research.
The impact Jeffrey's efforts have had on the young people in his local community is tremendous and he is to be recognised for the undeniable dedication to his role. Well done!
