Welcome to the launch of Active Suffolk's Active Bystander Week - a week to champion awareness of what it means to be an active bystander and the actions we can take to challenge discriminatory and harmful behaviour.

From 2nd to 6th September 2024, we will be sharing essential information, practical tips, and resources aimed at enhancing safety in our county. Our Sport Welfare Officer, Emma Swan, will be hosting events and collaborating with peers from various sectors to engage in vital discussions about community safety.

We believe that physical activity, sport, and movement should provide opportunities for enhanced wellbeing, happiness, and inclusion. Many people access physical activity and sport to improve their mental, physical, and social health but it does not always feel safe and welcoming for everyone.

Our ABC foundation of awareness, belief & change underpins our vision.

We dream of a county where individuals are AWARE of their right to be safe and who they can speak to if they are worried about themselves or others; where we have BELIEF in our ability and empowerment to come together to make CHANGE for safer, happier futures.

We recognize that this is an ongoing journey which will be filled with lessons and reflections. While we may not have all the answers, we are committed to doing everything we can to support the people in our communities.
